Sally's dedication to her profession has led to her recognition as a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music (NCTM).
She began studying the piano at the age of eight. In 1981 she was awarded the National School Choral Award, the Accompaniment Award and the Kent Music Study Club Award, a scholarship for music students. Later, she was a finalist, at the Bay View Music Festival in the Concerto Competition (MI), where she won second place, with a Mozart Piano Concerto. Sally attended the University of WA where she obtained two Bachelors degrees, a BA in Music, and a BM in piano performance. While at the U.W., Sally gave solo,and chamber music concerts, and accompanied vocalists. She also helped with musical preparation for the Opera Workshop (1986). Sally continued her studies at graduate level at the University of TX, in Austin.
In Everett, Washington, a reviewer for The Everett Herald wrote the following about a solo performance:
“Sally Ramsden opened the second half of the concert with a piece by Ravel: Jeux d'Eau. It was, to this reviewer, the highlight of the evening... Her other two pieces – Moments Musicaux by Schubert, and Sonata No. 4 by Scriabin – displayed more of her superb talents. She handled the various tempos and volumes and shifts with easy grace...”
In 1996, Sally produced a classical compact disc for Russian Virtuoso, Igor Denshik, and has produced two compact discs of solo piano of her own.
Sally is a member of the Washington State Music Teachers Association and the National Music Teachers Association.
Sally has accompanied string player Nora Shastain, Clarinetist JoAnne Cordero, Bassoonist Paul Rafanelli, and several vocalists (among others)
Sally was in vocal coaching programs at the Minnesota Opera Institute and Opera Works Florida
She has been a choral accompanist for South Seattle Community College
Sally has been part-time faculty at Cornish and Highline Community Colleges
Her work as orchestral pianist include: the Bay View Music Festival Orchestra, the Seattle Philharmonic, and Thalia Symphonies
Sally was in Gallery Concert Series in the City of Bremerton (chamber music)
She participated in the King County Arts Commission Sponsored Concerts in the cities of Kent, and Renton (chamber music)
Sally has performed in local public school solo ensemble contests and high school choral concerts in Tukwila, Auburn, Bellevue, Kent, South Seattle, and Covington
She has done musical preparation and accompaniment for the University of WA Opera Workshop
Sally has accompanied vocal competitions in both Washington and Texas
Sally is on the scholarship committee for the South King County Music Teacher Association
